I've been lurking here since I bought my 16ga earlier in the summer. Good stuff. Just returned from a great trip to South Dakota. Lots of birds, good dog work, and a good friend.
Left my backup guns in the case and did the whole week with my new Arrieta 871 round action game gun. Used the 27" barrels out of the 3 barrel set, choked light skeet/light skeet, and with #5's in the first barrel and #4's in the second, it was deadly on roosters. We limited out every day.
Now, to get the gun back to the smith for the permanent recoil pad. Shot this trip with a slip on pad, as I've been working with a gun fitter to get a permanent LOP established.
As soon as I get the picture thing figured out, I'll post a few shots from our trip out west.
Thanks for all the great info on this site. |

Welcome aboard Jim. Sounds like you had a great trip with a cool new gun. Looks like you have a winner there. |

Very cool. I'm doing the slip on pad thing too for now. What kind of permanent pad are you going to put on? I'm thinking of trying my hand at a leather pad. |

This is a Galazan brown rubber pad, 1/2" I just had installed. Note that I kept the curvature in the butt. I had them use a milling machine instead of cutting it square. I think it looks better that way.
I get my barrels next week. |

I'm having a leather pad built. I bought the gun from Fieldsports in Michigan, and am sending it back to them for the repair. I also did the gun fitting there, so it's the logical place to have the pad installed. |
