WE HAVE A PLACE AND A DATE
The Tucson Trap & Skeet Club will be hosting the first Doubles in the Desert classic SxS fun shoot Sat. March 1.
This should be an excellent venue with more than 250 RV hookups, a full service restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, and experience hosting major events including the Spring Grand with almost 1500 participants. Please check their website for information regarding the facilities
http://www.tucsontrapandskeet.com/
The date will conflict with the Copper State Open at Ben Avery but is the Sat. before the SASS Winter Range March 5-9. If someone knows how I might promote the shoot with the SASS, please let me know. There will be loads of visitors to Phoenix and Tucson for both 'Paradise Season golf' and Baseball Spring Training.
Let me emphasize that this is a fun shoot without a registration fee, prizes, or awards. TT&SC will need an idea as to the number of participants, and I'll ask folks to PM or e-mail me on the various Forums about Feb. 1. The primary purpose of the shoot is fun and doublegun fellowship, but it is my hope that this will build into a significant event with exhibitors and vendors in the future. You will simply buy targets and shoot which ever discipline you choose. I will record the high scores on the "Classic Skeet" and "Two Man Pheasant Phlush" fields. Trap and 5-stand Sporting is also available. TT&SC has no limitation on the use of damascus barrel guns nor black powder cartridges.
Donations will be accepted for the benefit of The Theodore Roosevelt Association http://www.theodoreroosevelt.org/
and TR period appropriate dress is encouraged (but certainly just for fun and not required.) Donations will be appreciated to reimburse me for the cost of banners and a shoot program
Thanks once again to everyone who has contacted me with suggestions, and please continue to let me know how we can make this a fun event at revdoc2@cox.net Specific questions regarding the TT&SC facilities should be directed to Laura on Weds, Sat. and Sun. mornings at 520-883-6426.
Looking forward to meeting lots of 'imaginary internet friends' and their great old guns! And start working on your 'get up' now

revdocdrew;
Go here : http://www.sassnet.com
Register as a guest and make your announcement there. This is a World organization and Winter Range is the United States Championships. Matches will be held by local Arizona Clubs from Tombstone to Prescott during the two weeks that lead up to WR. Lots of competitors will be here from all over the World.
Wished I could attend, however I will be busy at Ben Avery helping set-up for WR. |

I"m new to all this. Is this shoot for 16ga only? SXS only? Old guns only? |

He is riding with an 1885 McClellan Military Army saddle here in this photo. And I would suspect the year to be around the end of the Spanish/ American War.
Neat picture, he is one of my Hero's. |
