Too me vintage clothing ment WW II gear. Even hunting pictures of Ted Trueblood (Field and Stream I thing) showed him in army issue, right down to the combat boots with the upper leather wrap secured with straps and buckles.
The 'English' gentlemens wearing apparel looks more appropriate for afternoon tea than walk up ruff hunting.

I got invited on an English shoot a couple of years ago. Ties required, sxs or o/u only. My friend was an alternate, and asked if I wanted to share his peg. I was out of my league,to say the least. Some of these fellas had flown in on their private jets that morning. Got to see what a billionaire looks like. Breakfast was served on the tailgate of a 1920's truck, Virginia ham biscuits and coffee. Lunch was served in the field, butternut squash soup, lochs, cashews, roast beef sandwiches,wine & tea. In the afternoon, those shooting were paired with a dog and handler to hunt up birds from the morning shoot. Most amazing 30 minutes of hunting I ever had was when our dog slipped under a fence. I followed, neither my friend or the dogs owner came along. We went deep after a bird, the dog followed every command I gave him, as if he were my own. I'll treasure that pheasant forever.
Most of the fellas outfits cost more than my gun, and most of their guns were more than my truck. All I can say is that dressing the part, took me to another place in time. I almost cried when we had to leave. |

Will period attire be required for "Doubles in the Desert"? I think the only vintage clothes I have is my underwear. Not sure where I could find tweeds in Arizona. |

I think my stuff is vintage by default-it's just old!
Pretty sure my double tin pants, Pendleton wool shirt, red union suit and Irish setters would fool most people into believing they were a 100 or so years old. It was all available back then, too.

It sounds like Cowboy Action Shooting would be right down your alley! The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) is nationwide and the headquarters is even in your part of the country.
Of course, you'd have to learn to shoot lever rifle and single action revolver also!
