Have been looking at the brass crimp starter in the Ballistic Products catalog. Some questions: is it worth the $30? Anyone else sell them any cheaper? Guess what I want to know is do I really need one Laughing .

Rick--Second question first. If anyone sels them for less I am unaware of it.
Now, first question. I have not found that the brass crimp starter is useful for previously fired hulls. If you are using a MEC machine, the Spindex Crimp Starter, standard on those machines, is far more useful when reloading used hullls.
However for NEW hulls the brass starter will give you a much better beginning crimp and for me is indispensable. It's indestructable and worth every penny when crimping new hulls. My $.02.

I will also second that. The brass crimp starter on new shells is great. Trying to use it on fired shells can be a nuisance because it will not follow the grooves in the othr shell all the time.
