Help me fellahs-
I have many 2 3/4 inch (Red) Win "Super X" hulls in high, med, and low brass I'd like to reload. Seem to have the same interior dimensions despite brass. Is this the "Win Polyformed Plastic Game Shell" so listed on Hodgdon reload site?
I take it the "AA Compression formed hull" is an older model..........
Enlighten me, eh?
Many thanks, Rizzy in Maine |

After Winchester discontinued the old AA style hull and before they changed to buying their 16 gauge ammunition from Italy and then Australia they made a hull they called the Polyformed hull. Turned out to be a POS. I would contact Hodgdon to find out if their data is for the current crop of Cheddite or Cheddite clone hulls or the old discontinued Polyformed hull. In any case you can't go wrong by using the Hodgdon data listed for Cheddite in current Winchester hulls. |

Yes, pretty much. Sliced one and they look the same. Mine are red, low brass alum or "brass", med brass, and high brass, brass heights being 17.42mm, 10.22mm and 8.34mm. Basewad appears same. All marked "Super X" Winchester.
Not one of my premier hulls to reload but I have a lot of them and would like to get a GreenDot or Universal recipe for 7/8 oz- if anyone has a tried and true.
Thanks, Rizzy |

Rizzy,
As far as I can tell, these newer Winchester hulls are Cheddites; I don't see why you couldn't use the same 7/8 oz. GD load you tried in the Federal hulls. There's a 1oz load in the 16g manual in the Cheddite hull, with the Z-16 wad, and 20 grains Green Dot and a Fio. 616; 1300 fps @10,600 psi. With 7/8 oz, and 18-18.5gr Green dot, pressures surely will be lower. |
