I remember sometime back some outfit was selling paper hulls. Any of you guys get any of those.
Were the anygood or should say worth the money. Dids they have paper base or plastic.
I would like to purchase some if possible. Thanks Bill |

Graf and Sons sells paper 16 gauge hulls made by Cheddite. As memory serves me they have a plastic base wad. Not exceptionally good for reloading. Most folks are getting two or three reloads before the hull burns through at the side wall. Load data for plastic Cheddite hulls is pretty much interchangeable with the paper hulls. |

The Cheditte hulls load and perform fine, but the paper they are made of is thin and hard, not thicker and soft like Federal papers. So the down side is that 2 MAYBE 3 reloads they split along the side like this. If many reloads is your goal go with plastic hulls. Just my 2c. Bob

Thanks for the info. I'll probably stick with plastic for now. I usually trim down the plastic when they start splitting and roll crimp for a little more mileage. Bill |

I have been searching for months for Federal Paper 16ga you can't beat them, but i can't buy them either, a friend of mine said he had 50 gallon barrel full of hulls, but he can't find them, if you seen his place you would know why!!!At one time I had 2=3000 12 ga Fed's, I guess someone wanted them more than me, I think I got 75 of them left.
I got 75 GREEN REMIES in 16ga but they are to pretty to shot.
If anyone finds a boat load of Fed 16ga, don't forget me, and i will do the same.
Good Luck on your hunt!

I've got about a case of unfired, 1930-1960? Paperhulled 16s, and a few twenties. Most are 2 3/4 so I didn't fire them in my A5, but now I've got the Uggie......
I know save them for the memories! Dammit. But I do remember that paper and cordite smell as a little kid on the range- But that's another story
