Since I just learnt myself how to post photos, I thought I'd share a couple from my first trip to South Dakota this last November. These aren't the greatest, but I'll have to wait until this fall to get better ones.

I too have a fondness for a Citori, spent purple hulls and dead roosters ..... although I tend to have more spent purple hulls than dead roosters. Wink

I grew up in Winona, my father and I pheasant hunted near where he grew up in Claremont, MN. It's west of Rochester on Hwy. 14 between Dodge Center and Owatonna. Lots of great memories of that area of the world. I started hunting with a Savage 202B single shot 16 ga. and have always liked being the guy with the rare gun.

Believe me when I say this, more than just those two shells were used to kill those birds. I'm looking for an alternative to steel shot in the 16 ga. because of my experiences in South Dakota last year. I'm thinking about reloading Niceshot, however I'm leery that you can use a tungston base pellet in a regular plastic wad. I have to do some more research on this.

Nice pics Citori_16! I did not know non-tox is required in South Dakota. Please keep us posted on your research with niceshot.

Non-tox is required on public ground in SD.

LiverTick, you are correct. I should have elaborated on that better. We'll see what happens with the Niceshot.

Nice pics. Beautiful gun. I used to own a Superlight wit 24" barrels in 16 bore. Good quail gunin the thickets. Sadly, I sold it. Embarassed

I will get another Superlight- with 26" barrels.

"more spent purple hulls than dead roosters" As opposed to "non-toxic" loads these would be "non-lethal" loads. I shoot a lot of those. Laughing

Nothing really to do with the post but saw you were from Ricine. We purchased the company in Racine last year and moved it to Maine. They made custom cases like music instruments go in. Have been thinking about making custom gun cases too.

In that case, pun intended, no I haven't heard of them. I am a fairly recent transplant to the area. I do believe that if they would come in price wise something a little less than the manufacturer badged hard cases, you'd have a pretty decent return. I've been looking at them, but don't want to pay what browning etc. are asking for them. Have had the cheap plastics from Flambeau and that's all that they are, cheap. I would also think that something for a scoped rifle would sell that's not some huge cumbersome vault mainly designed for traveling.

But, I don't have any money involved so I'm sure I have a lot of great ideas that will never see light and prove to me that I'm wrong. Laughing
