I've always heard good things about them Terry. I don't have one, but I've had a casual eye out for one for a while now. I think it was our own Charles who said good things about them too.

Terry, you could try this guy, he is the local Rem 48 & 58 guru here in west MI. the58sportsman@comcast.net i did pass this along to another member here a little while ago and i'm not sure if Dave ever helped him out. good luck, mike

thanks all for your input!

and if I can't find a 16 gauge 58, perhaps I could get a shorter-open barrel for the 12. I have a couple of 12 gauge 1100 barrels I probably won't ever use again..one is about 25 inch plain cylinder and the other is about 24 inch, ribbed with screw ins....both in excellent shape...I got them cut for upland , but the gun is still 8 lbs. and after 3 hours walking....about 15 lbs!

Milton indicated that he sent a PM,,,,but if I log in, it says I have no messages...

just a thought.....if your quest for a 58 doesn't pan out, have you consdiered a Rem 48 or 11-48? i enjoy mine and a search around here will show a handfull of devotees. mine is cut back to a cyl bore upland special and weighs in in the low #6's, absolutly love the thing. take care, mike
