Ok, I know this queston isnt about the 16ga, but I have proven my allianace and it does relate to its beautiful younger sister..the 28ga!!! Has anyone had any experience with the steel loads put togeather by Balistic products? Or have any other suggestion as I live in a state that is going to ban lead shot. Thanks |

Ballistic Products put together 28ga steel loads? Never heard of those. Do tell.
I have done some work on 28ga steel as well as some amazing Hevi shot loads.
280gr steel load over 1400 fps and under max pressure and a 7/8 oz hevi load at 1325 fps and about 9500 psi.
I would like to hear more about those Ballistic Products loads. What components and what performance.

Yes, they put out a "technical Guide" with data for 28ga and 410ga using their components for 1/2oz loads(2 of #6or7 shot. The guide also includes data for heavey shot. Would you be willing to share your info? We are looking at a lead shot ban here in Mn.

Would be very cautious with steel or HEVI-SHOT in a 28 gauge without tough wads. BPs 2nd Edition 28 gauge does give loads for both steel and HEVI-SHOT using their HV28 wad+Mylar coiled inside for bore protection.
Doubt if there will be enough demand to warrent developing a Multi-Metal wad for the 28 as they did for the sixteen.
I load bismuth 3/4 ounce loads for my 28. Better safe than sorry. |

I would agree that it would be safer to load bismuth, but where do you get any now????? |

Go with nice shot from ecotungsten. Loads in the same wads, powder, and primer as lead. Ya it costs $25.00 a lbs. but how many loads are you talking here? That's my 2 cents, so take it for what it's worth.
Good luck and happy shooting
