I have a Stevens model 335. I've had the tubes opened up to .5/.15. I have bought Win. 1 oz. #8's at 1165. They pattern great for clays, which I mostly do now. I also bought some Rem. 1 oz. #8's at 1200. They dont pattern as well, and after about 25 rounds, my old Stevens starts begging for mercy. The firing pins start to bind. They will just barely dimple the primers. I don't know what the pressures are on either. I suspect the Rems. are higher. Anyhow........... I'm going to start reloading. I now have a bushel of Rem. and Win hulls. With those in mind, what would be the best load to give me a nice sub 1200 fps, sub 8000psi #8 load. I love this old 16er. Don't use anything else anymore on 5 stand or spt. clays. I have Russ's data. Just need one good load. |

If you have Russ's data, go thru it until you find a load that meets your requirements. Make sure you can get the components, for the load you decide on. Half the fun of reloading, is finding the load that works for you. |
