What is the correct method of storage after cleaning, in the maker's case or with bbls attached and hammers dropped on snap caps? Gun is a box lock. Thanks, Bob |

In addition to what you said--- store it muzzle down. Keeps the oil from running out of the action and into the head of the stock. |

You can also leave the hammers cocked and the chambers empty. That way extra oil is not retained by capilary action between the snap cap and chamber. The torsion spring shouldn't take a set. Just another way of doing it, what you're doing now isn't wrong....

I wouldn't store it in any kind of case because it "might" be a moisture trap. I store mine assembled, muzzles down, no snap-caps. |

I make it a habit to check regulary for signs of rust---This also gives me an excuse to admire the craftmanship |

Thanks Guys,
I think Hoashooter has the best idea--take them out of the safe just to admire them. The old English 16's are simply beautiful and just "feel right". Bob |

Get a good safe and use a "GoldenRod" to keep them warm and dry. |

In this country where we have to lock em up in an approved storage safe .
I store my double guns and double rifles muzzle down with snap caps in and hammers let off .I have a sewn square of sheepskin that fits the floor of the safe .the wool has a fair amount of oil on it gathered over the years but who cares its a throw away item.
good shooting

Bigcreek,
Too bad Beretta wouldn't go back to their 411E 16g. We could sufer with a 6.5 LB. false side plated box lock. Well atleast I could. On the storage side I like the barrel down, springs relaxed and snap caps in. So far so good but I also look and fondle them often.
Best of the new year,
Ron |

Preach it out brother! It would sure be a step in the right direction. If Beretta would just take a engineer off the annual redesign of their semi-auto and reinvest in the guns that built their franchise we could have a nice 16ga and they would have a new profit center. Pass the idea along to Beretta Rep somewhere. Healthy & happy new year.
