I saw an article a while back in Gun Dog about using motor cycle intertubes to help stop Setters and other long haired dogs from burring up on their legs. Has any body tried this? The guy who wrote the article fasten the tubes to a chest protecter to keep them in place.
I hunt with Gordon Setters and the ones I want to keep the coat up, for the show ring I grease up. |

Go to the K9 Top Coat website. They have some "vests" that have "sleeves" if you will for front and/or back legs. You can buy the full suit and cut it to wherever you want it. If you want something custom or have questions, call them. They are very helpful.
In fact I am ordering two sports vests for my young dog tonight! |

I use the tubes to protect my dogs pads when chukar and hun hunting. Seems less than ideal for the whole leg. You would probably have to coat the inside with baby powder or something so they don't hang up. I would think that they would be heavy and hot as well. Some type of nylon "sleeve" might be much better. |
