I have a flat of these I want to shoot with my new light weight 16 ga. SxS, chambered for 2 1/2". I've had the forcing cones lengthened already. I was thinking these would be low pressure loads as the hull markings seem to indicate there is 2 1/2 drams eq. of powder. Am I right or wrong ?

They are not low pressure, and they kick like a mule. Wink

Yeah, I usually get 1250 fps or so over the chrono with the things. Decent grouse/wc load for my M-12s.

I usually ask Pumpgun to shoot them in his BPS or 870 - then I get the hulls for 3/4 oz weenies.

No domestic promotional load would likely be a low pressure load b/c that would require a heavier charge of slow burning powder (= decrease profit margin).

Almost all 16 gauge ammo loaded in the US is NOT LOW PRESSURE low brass base or high brass base.

RST 2 1/2" shells are low pressure, as are Polywad's 2 1/2" Vintagers. These two are the most available low pressure loads in the US and they are available by mail order.

All of the US promo stuff is snappy so it will work in the semiautos.

That's a great thing because then you can find a decent A5 or Rem 11 (or whatever) and have a great shooting gun to empty those hulls for your light double. Once you figure out the 16 gauge it's pretty smooth sailing. Wink
