Is everything in the conversion kit required or could a guy buy a couple of pieces and just make due? Thanks. |

Everything in the conversion kit is required. |

Given the relatively low cost of a 600 Jr., you may want to rethink picking up a conversion kit. I have a frugal (i.e. cheap) friend of my that tries to use the conversion kit when changing between two different gauges. I have a MEC progressive in a 12 and 16 along with a 12 gauge Sizemaster in 3" for steel shot and my original 12 gauge 600 Jr. I find it significantly faster to just pull the required reloader out of its packing box, screw it in to my reloading table, and I'm off to the races. I've seen my friend hassle with his conversion kit and I'm amazed what hoops in has to go through to get reloading for the different gauge...
Just my own opinion... |

I'll agree, don't mess with the conversion.
I found my 600jr/16ga in a little gun shop in Oregon, paid $15.00 for the press. it was missing bottles and a couple of parts. The missing items cost me $30.00 from MEC. I have a Sizemaster 12 and I am glad I did not buy the conversion as planned.
Keep your eyes open, attend some gun shows they are out there. |

I converted a 12 ga Mec to 28 ga using the kit. I am glad I only did it once. It worked fine and was cheaper than buying a new loader. I found used 16 ga Mec's difficult to come by. If you find a good cheap used 16 Mec, jump on it. Otherwise you can convert as long as you don't plan on switching back and forth. |
