I use the Remington black hull, R16 wad, 17 gr. Universal Clays and the Win. 209 primer. I also use 2 .28ga. under shot cards which are readily available on line at Circle Fly Wads. I had the load tested by Tom Ambrust using 16.5 gr. and it came out a little light at 1,050 fps and 5,800 psi.
You can get by without the filler if you cut the hull back to 2 1/2".

Mike: When using the 20ga. wad do you need to switch out your drop tube?

I use a Sizemaster. Its no big deal to pinch the hull between two fingers as the 16 ga drop tube is withdrawn. This keeps the wad in place.
If I were using a progressive I'd switch to a 20 ga drop tube.
