Hello,
Dogchaser37, I had a great day skeet shooting today, It is my 39 wedding anniversary.
I asked my wife the other day, what we should do on Saturday to celebrate. She said "Well, you are going to the skeet range, aren't you?" I said "I would like to" , and she said, "OK, I will go to the Craft Show and after that we will go out to eat" What a woman.
That, is LOVE :>))
I am pleased you are in 16 gauge land with us,
"Let he who has NOT sinned cast the first stone."
But He also said "Go, and sin no more"
Let's have some fun posts and review our answers before we send them.
Enjoy the day
Mike
P.S. I did sin today, I shot a Remington Sportsman 48 Skeet in 20 gauge, a Remington 1900 skeet gun with single trigger and ejectors. BUT I did pennance by shooting an underlever W. Richards damascus 16 gauge and Browning Citori in 16 gauge (no failures to fire, ever) |

Skeettx,
I have an old W. Richards 10 gauge underlever. Yup I said 10 gauge and No I don't want to find out what it is like to shoot.
However do you know where I can find out more about this shotgun? It was handed down to me from my Grandfather from his Father, from his Uncle. I am guessing 1870's ????? Kinda neat heritage. But no other info, if you have some info it would be appreciated.
ps, I am going to shoot a few rounds of skeet tomorrow, you talked me into it. |

Hello All,
Dogchaser37 is the W.Richards 10 gauge made in England or Belgium?
Please give more details on the barrel rib markings or watertable markings.
I shoot my OLD Hammerless L.C. Smith Damascus 10 gauge gun with Alcan All Brass Hulls and black powder.. Even load #3 steel in it for duck hunting, What FUN!!
Enjoy the day

Skeettx,
It was made in Belgium. Barrel rib near the receiver is stamped "Cast Steel". Not sure what 'watertable means'.
'Belgium' is stamped on the receiver and the side plates. It is a hammer gun with 2 cocking positions, double triggers, under lever. |

Hello
Watertable is the ledge of the action to which the bottom of the barrels mate. But you have answered my question enough.
I do not have data on the Belgium W. Richards, but will seek some.
I really enjoy shooting mine. The tumblers do not have a half cock postition and are not rebounding hammers on mine so I will not use mine for hunting only skeet shooting. but it is fine for that.
I was amazed that while my two buds guns have 2.5 inch chambers, mine has 2.75 inch chambers, much easier to get a good black powder load.
Enjoy the day

Mine has chambers that 2 7/8" not sure if it was ever modified. The barrels do have some pitting in them, so it is tough to tell. |

Dogchaser37
We are talking apples and oranges.
My W.Richards is 16 gauge and your is 10 gauge.
My L.C. Smith and Ithaca NID 10 gauge guns are both 2 7/8 chambers and the Alcan all brass hulls are that length.
I shoot smokeless in the Ithaca and black in the Elsie.
Enjoy the day
