The French word for a roll turnover machine is sertisseuse.

I only know this because, in desperation after trying every English language site on the Net where I hoped to find an old-fashioned 16ga RTO machine for sale, I tried Ebay France. Result; mine for less than the cost of a new BPI turnover head. Including shipping.

It's a good one, too. Not the usual design; the turnover head doesn't rotate, and is advanced by a worm. The cartridge, not the head, rotates. Never seen one like that before, but it works just fine; beautiful neat, tight rollovers every time, even with tatty old cases.

It's worth bearing in mind that, in the pinfire & early centrefire eras, 16 not 12 was the favorite bore size in France, so anyone looking, like me, for old-time reloading bits might find it worth their while to look at the French websites.

Vive la France, I guess.

I would say that 16 and 12 have been the favorites for much of Europe in general.

Their food, wine, and women? Only in France. The French have always been better salesmen than they are fighters. They always retain the best for themselves. Every one else gets convinced they are getting the superior stuff, but are shipped only the dregs. The last French girl I met who moved over here was ugly as a bag of A**holes. Laughing I think they shipped her over in a vat of the vinegar they pass off to us as dry wine. her disposition was as sour as the packaging. Rolling Eyes

In case anyone's interested, there's a really weird 16ga *pocket* RTO on Ebay France right now. Weird but neat.

Can't see why anybody would want to roll turnover a cartridge outdoors in the middle of a field somewhere. However, if you feel the need, I guess this is the gadget for you.

22 hours to go, gentlemen, and the bidding stands at 16 euros. Select Antiquites in Categories, and type sertisseur in the search box.
