Are B&P Hulls the same as Fiocchi hulls?
Thanks |

Has anyone ever reloaded any B&P Hulls and if so what recipe did you use?
I've got about 400 of them in a box and they sure look good!!!!! |

I'd be careful here. Some B&P hulls use a different, specially designed base wad and are not a Cheddite hull or a Fiocchi type hull either. I think B&P uses a Spanish Reo or South American made hull in some of their loads. These are not Cheddite hulls either but are very similar.
I'd advise anyone to carefully examine the hulls' interior designs and check them carefully for volume against either of the other two. If the volumes are within one percent and the base wads are all flat plastic discs of identical height and very similar shapes, then the hulls could be used for the same low to moderate pressure recipes without any danger of reaching any overly high pressures.
If the base wads have a distinctive cup shape, then I'd advise waiting for specific reloading data. The cupped base wad amounts to a hemispherical combustion chamber and produces a far more efficient burning rate than that of a flat bottomed cylinder shaped chamber. I'd not advise using any of them for max or even near max loads without a specific recipe to go by.
The American distributer for B&P ammo and componants could probably help you here. They are listed on the Internet. I can't recall their name right off hand. Look under Bashieri and Pellagri for the name.
Also note, B&P wads are the Z wad series and are not standard Gualaundi wads as a lot of folks assume. the Z wads are also referred to as the Trap Commander series by BPI. |

Some of the B&P hulls are Fiocchi. The 28 gauge Extra Rossa is stamped Fiocchi on the brass.
On the 16 gauge loads I would be carful to assume they are Cheddites. I have some older yellow B&P 16 gauge F2 loads that are clearly marked B&P on the brass. The new green wads are not. The base wad looks different than my cheddite wads. I would call the help line at BPI before assuming anything. |

Shooting Soiux wrote, "They are Cheddites"
S.S., the original question as I read it asks if the B&P hulls are the same as Fiocchi hulls. You did not specify that only these pictured hulls are a Cheddite or Cheddite type hull. You simply stated they are Cheddites, period. I know enough about B&P hulls in general to know a flat, blanket statement like yours can easily be misconstrued. I have reloaded some and also have some in storage as I write this. They do vary from load type to load type, even within a certain gauge.
What I stated is for the folks who might assume from your seemingly blanket statement, that all B&P hulls are Cheddites. This is not the case. Nobody should have to reload any to find out the hard way they've assumed wrong. I'd rather folks be warned to exercise some caution and look before assuming anything. I think you'd agree if you'd take a moment to think twice before going off half-cocked. Thanks. I'm sure the moderator would agree in this case. |
