From looking at the documentation on the reloading group site, it looks like I can use a CH209 in place of a Win209.

Yes or No?

Yes they are essentially identical in perfomance and can be safely used in lieu of each other

If you rank order primers from the most mild to the hottest they rank as follows:
1. CCI 109, CCI 209
2. Rem Premier STS, Rem 209P
3. Win 209 & Ched 209
4. Fiocchi 616
5. CCI 209M
6. Fed 209A

Are the Cheddites the same size physically as the W209's?

I have some that I should use up, but I don't want to mess up my hulls for the Winchester primers.

I have not tried them all, but can testify that Nobel Sport and Fiocchi are larger and will expand primer pocket making Win 209 loose fit creating some gas blow back. That said, I am very satified with their performance and price and use the exclusivly for all but my Win CF hulls in 16ga, all 12ga AA reloads and promotional Win 20 ga. You don't have to commit with all your hulls in any event. I use Euros in AA12 that are nearing end of useful life. Stick with Win 209 in 410, 28 and target grade 20ga.

Slightly larger, like a Fiocchi.

I don't know about all hulls but the NobelSport primers don't over expand the primer pockets on Remington hulls. On several occasions I've used Win primers after the Nobels with no problem(s).

This is NOT always the case when working with low pressure loads.
I have had two identical loads tested, one with Win 209 primer and one with Ched 209 primer. The Ched. was 1000 P.S.I. higher.

Time for my rant again. I refuse to use Cheddite because they are made in France. I don't want any of my money going to a country that has consistantly done it's best to denigrate my country. France, and for most part the French people, have forgotten that if it were not for the US, they would be speaking German.

For a supposed ally, the French are the most consistantly anti-American country around. I have not forgotten the debt that America owes Franch for helping us in our own revolution, but that was done only to poke a stick in England's eye, not for the sake of freedom or democracy. On the other hand, we saved their bacon in two world wars, which they conviently like to forget.

So I personally boycott all things French and would urge all other Americans to do the same.
