I know this has been asked before and like an idiot never wrote it down or saved it. Thought I could always search it. I tried searching it on this forum to no avail. I may not be doing something right, but whatever, I cannot find anything remotely related.

I want to send in some loads to Tom Arburst for testing. Can someone please RE-Explain the procedure ??

Will be sending in a nice shot recipie in 16ga, and a maybe a 10ga recipie if I can get it loaded and patterned this weekend.

UPS of FEDEX them to Tom Armburst at;
Ballistics Research
1108 West May Ave
McHenry, IL 60050-8918

You will have to ship them from the main terminal in Lincoln because most box outlets aren't authorized to accept anything that requires a ORM D sticker but it's cheaper to ship from the hub anyway.

Tom's telephone # is (815) 385-8918

What did you settle on for a 10 gauge load?

You should send at least 3 shells for each load you want tested.
The cost is $5.00 per shell, so send a check made out to Tom, for the cost.
I always send a self addressed, stamped envelope, for Tom to send the test results back in. Just helps him speed things along.
Include your phone number also, incase he has any questions or needs to talk to you.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Just saved the messages in case I get stupid again and forget.

I have not decided on 10ga load yet.

I would like to test the ITX shot.
Have two loads in mind:
30gr PB
Deci-max (helarco)
1 1/4oz of ITX
or
38gr Longshot
Rem SP 10 ( may need some gas seals??)
1 3/8 oz ITX
OR 34gr of Longshot
Rem SP10/deci-max (helarco)
1 1/4 nice shot

Leaning toward testing the ITX (whenever I get it) as I am comfortable witht the nice shot. Not that I wouldn't test it, but would like to do the ITX first. I may need to cut the hull down to 2 5/8"!! But what the hey, either of those should be some duck slayers!!

Twice barrel, I sent in a 10ga 2 7/8" Federal hull and primer
40grains of Longshot, 1 1/4oz of Nice Shot, Deci-Max (Helarco) wad,
with a (1) 1/4" wool felt spacer in bottom of cup, overshot card and Roll Crimped.
Could have cut this to 2 3/4" or 2 5/8's even, got rid of wool felt.
Will see what the results are, but I bet I end up cutting to 2 3/4" and do away with felt.
Not that big a deal, it may even help with "set back" but not sure how critical that is with the nice shot.

I was going to wait until my ITX arrived, but the 3 16ga shells looked lonely and figured as long as I was shipping, just as well throw in the 10's.

Still going to test the ITX in 16ga and 10ga. and maybe a 12ga loading as well.

If you need a copy of the ORM-D lable PM me and I'll email it over. Print it off and you're good to go.

I just write "ORM-D, small arms ammo"
On the box with a black dri-marker, in a couple places, and I've never had a problem. If I had the stickers, I'd use them. Wink

No, UPS didn't have the ORM-D labels at our local hub.

I picked mine up off the internet then saved the picture file and sized it to my needs. I print a black & white copy, cut it to size and tape it on with clear package sealing tape. Easy, no hassle and meets all requirement.

You should be able to grab the picture from here:
