I was digging through some boxes last night and came across two bags of DX16 spreader wads from BPI. I misplaced them so many moves ago I forgot I had them. That said, anyone know why the stopped producing and selling them?

Looking at them I assume they were Gualandi produced wads. I looked on line and did not find a European source

I recall they were good 7/8 oz skeet wads for my F/M Fox and decent for grouse with 1 oz of nickel

Looks like Gualandi is only making them in 12 and 20 gauge but I'll bet that the 20 gauge wad will work just as well as the Gualandi 2025 wad in the Remington SP and Winchester Compression formed hulls.

I wish I had those wads. I use both the x insert and polywads. Like them both.

Just bought a bunch of the 12 dispersor x wads for loading up my 12ga.
For quail, grouse and maybe even early pheasant (although early on usually using a 16 of some sort)

I thought I may need them in the ITX #6 shot depending on how it patterns. I know the Nice shot patterns a little tighter than lead in my experience with it. Not as tight as Hevi-shot, (which I also use spreader inserts in).

The Dispersor 16's were pretty good. I'm down to my last bag or so. After discovering Lee Menefee's Poly-Wad Spreader and Mike's improvement in loading technique for the Poly-Wad it makes the DX-16 obsolete for small shot IMO.
I had not considered Hootch's suggestion for using them with larger sizes of non-toxic shot. I will now.

What is Mike's technique for loading with the POLYWAD insert?

Yep, it does, already tried it. Very Happy
Use them in RGL's for close ups in 5-stand.
