What do you guys use to fill the extra space in 3/4 and 7/8oz loads when needed? I've been trying dried soy beans and they seem to work fine. Would like to know other good options.

Puffed rice, puffed wheat, 1/8th inch 28 gauge card wads, styrofoam discs, dried pinto beans or just about any other dry lightweight non-metallic, semi-rigid material that you can stuff into the hull mouth.

Puffed rice and wheat are biodegradable, and inexpensive. But they can be a bit too compressible for really low payloads - like 1/2 and 5/8 oz - where you are dealing with large voids. Have used 1/2 a packing peanut for such.

Puffed cereal does not affect patterns in any demonstrable way. Not as sure about packing peanuts, but I'm inclined to say the same about them.

styrofoam discs,

Maybe the best option....

1. Virtually no added ejecta weight

2. FREE

3. Easy to punch into wads.

4. Additional cushioning to shot charge.

5. Allows more of shotcup length usable to protect shot. (A 1/8" Styro wad will flatten to approx. 1/32" upon firing.)

6. No affect to pattern.

7. Non-hygroscopic

Here is another vote for styrofoam if you need a filler. I just can't pass up those old dusty bags Rem SP16 wads I come across at the gun shows.
