Ok Guys,
After reading all of the posts about Walmart and K-Mart stocking 16 gauge shells I became very curious and stopped in at my local Walmart today. (our local K-Mart closed down).
They had 7 boxes of the silver box color of Winchester Super X game loads in 16 gauge, so I bought them all. My question is, how do these hulls reload? Do they crimp ok? And can one use compression formed hull data? (even though I don't think these are compression cases)

They reload just fine. They crimp well. No, you can't use the old data from compression formed hulls. They are most likely Cheddite hulls from Australia. Lots of data for these and other Cheddite hulls in the 16ga low pressure group.

Don't expect a long hull life. |

I just reloaded a batch of these today. They were very easy to reload and they look great. I hope they perform as well as they look. Will give a report if I get a chance to fire them tis weekend. Can't go Saturday; my daughter is getting married. If they could have scheduled it later in the day I could still make it to the club and be back in time. Oh well, will try to go Sunday.

What, your daughter's wedding is more important than inquiring minds that want to know ? |

Hey Fin,
I hear what you are saying. There were just too many females in charge of the whole thing. Couldn't get out of it without leaving home for good. That might not have been such a bad idea but I couldn't figure out how to move a 600 pound gun safe by myself.
Anyway, the girl is married and gone now. Just one more daughter to go.
(and this one likes to shoot)
Will have to test those loads next week.

Case mouths tend to split after just a few reloads (probably 3-4 max) on the Aussie Winchesters. But with the Gualandi wad, they're probably as good a bet for reloading as we 16ers have. |
