2. 16 Ga. Fox Sterlingworth (Utica): Near mint, on 20 ga. frame, 28" bbls choked IM/F, bbl blue near 100%, case colors 85-90% with some very light patina on trigger plate only, orig wood finish near 100% with only a few scratches and handling marks, LOP 14 3/8" to original HRBP, DAH approx 2 7/8". None nicer - $2600. gib222@hotmail.com
Sounds like a nice one, sounds a little pricey but maybe not, considering what they're bringing nowadays. He wants $60 shipping to your FFL which I thought was a little rich. No dog in this fight for me, just thought I'd pass it along...
Fin
Later: Found out the $60 includes insurance based on the value of the gun, so it's probably not out of line. |

Now Fin see what you and the Reverand have done talking up the virtures of these dang old Fox Sterlingworths.
5 years ago you could have bought that gun for $600.00, in a couple of years it will be about what one of those import Merkels or Rizini sell for.
Course you will still get a better gun with a Sterlingworth. |

I never thought I'd see the day when a Utica Sterlingworth would cost the same as a Parker. Guess I shouldn't have sold the two Foxes I had. |

Dave,
I would be surprised to find a VH 16 Parker in the afore mentioned condition for $2600. Or am I looking in the wrong places? |

I know all American SxS's are going up, but I would not pay 4K for a 16 gauge VH. I bought mine 3 years ago for $1600.00, and I thought that was high then. Now, a 16 gauge DHE, 0 frame, 28" barrels, with a straight stock, that would be another story. |

Lots of drop in that SW, for one thing. And that's certainly top dollar. Foxes have indeed suffered from severe inflation! |

As the Rev might say, "Amen, Brother!" Don't blame me; I tried to keep it under my hat but it's hard with something that good. And you know the Rev; he's bound to spread the Gospel !

I agree 100%, and I have a Fox very near that condition. Paid a bit less for it than that but still paid a good $$ for it.
Where's my Merkel 1620? Must be held up at the border. |

Who ever thought an Iver Johnson Skeeter would bring over $3000. I doubt I'll ever spend over 3K on any old, well used hunting double. there are far too many suitable newer SXS hunting guns available for as much or far less. However, if I did, it would not be on some overpriced relic from a company barely able to make a good bicycle. |
