I just purchased a case of 16 ga Dove & Quail from Caelas $69.99.
2 3/4 ,1 oz , 1165 FPS color purple Cheddite hull.
Hopefully try the Herters on the skeet field this weekend.
Interested how the Herters empties will reload.
I am currently loading Fiocchi hulls in 16 ga.and do not reload very many times. |

I've used a couple of cases of these shells and like them ok. The part we used to call "the brass", Lord knows what it is now, is pretty soft and can hang just a bit in the chamber if there is any roughness at all. Other than that I liked them just fine. Bought a case of them with 1 oz of #6 the other day but haven't got to use any yet.

Rex,
What model of 16 gauge are you shooting that these Herter shells have a tendency to hang up? |

1954 Remington 870. They don't hang bad but seem to hesitate just an instant then pump out. Almost like you have to wait for the brass to cool and contract. That is probably a poor description but that is what it feels like.

Thanks! ; I have a Model 870 of a little newer vintage and have a case of Herter`s that I purchased at Cabela`s and have not got to shoot any of these. I had heard that some had a tendency to hang! So I will know what is going on if they do start to hang ! |

Birdswatter,
It doesn't seem to be every shell and I expect if I rigged some 0000 steel wool on a dowel with a drill driver and polished the dickens out of the chamber it would not hurt.

I shot the herters shells today on the skeet field .
They seem to shoot nice.
The shells have a little more kick than my reloads thru my fox.
I will buy some more for the empties. |

The hulls are Cheddites.
A number of folks have posted that the loads seem a little hot. Not a problem - just something to be aware of. |

I bought three cases this summer. They would not cycle in my rem sportsman 58 on the high power setting like federals or winchesters but cycled fine on the low power detent. They are so much cheaper than the Winchesters that I will keep buying. |

These shells kick /recoil so hard they reset my safety on my 2nd shot in myFox side by side.
Has anyone else had this problem.
I do not have this problem with reloads.
The safety selector seems to have correct tension. |

What reloads are you using?
What Herters ammo are you using?
What is the chamber length on your Fox?
Other folks have also stated more recoil.
Thanks

I am loading
21.9 grains of Universal powder
SGwad
1 oz shot
Herters dove and quail
My reloads work fine no safety issues on second shot. |

29gr of Universal! That is one VERY hot load regardless of what hull it's in. Have you had it tested? |
