Anybody ever heard of a Ducks Unlimited Winchester 21 16ga? It has very high grade wood and is highly engraved with gold inlay and gold ducks. It says Pachmayr Custom on the vent rib. A medallion on the stock says donated to Ducks Unlimited by Nan and Frank Pachmayr. The serial number is 66xx.

I don't recall anything about this gun in Schwing's book.

Pachmayr has his engravers do quite a few model 21's after they left the Winchester factory, and some were for presentations or for fund raisers. I don't think Schwing talked about any post-factory engraving per se in his book.

Yes, his shop did several Model 21's and some amazing Parker upgrades too!

Quality of work is first class although some of the embellishments can be a little gaudy for my taste. That said I would not turn one down.

If anybody has any additional information, opinion or speculation about this gun, please post or PM me. The engraver is unknown.

gaudi / BEAUTIFUL ! I'm not allowed to handle glass or guns of that quality ! I barely let myself touch Mike Campbells gun . I'm all in for shooting any gun made , but some are just beyond that !

I could live with that. Might have to sell an old pump to finance it. Wink I'm more of a minimalist regarding embellishments, but that looks petty nice!

Its all your fault Dave. You made me covet a model 21 16ga. I been looking for one since handling yours at the 16ga shoot in St. Paul.

That wasn't my 21 at St. Paul. I wish!! It was most likely Greg's Loftness's. He's got at least a couple including a recent 30" 16 gauge that weighs under 6 1/2 pounds.

You are right...it was Greg. He shot his Model 21 at the Sporting Cay course. He and my son swapped guns for a station. I loved how it fit me and how light it was.

I was not looking for a high grade but when I saw this one, I put it on layaway. I picked it up this weekend. I got it pretty cheap. About the same price as a standard near new original model 21. After two counter offers I was hooked.

That was an early 16-gauge Model 21. That style barrel marking was only used the first couple of years according to Schwing.

Pachmayr Gun Works upgraded a lot of Parker Bros. and Winchester Model 21 doubles over the years. They were mostly engraved and inlayed in West Germany. Pachmayr donated a load of these upgraded guns to Ducks Unlimited to be raffled off at their dinners.
