My first 16 ga is now safe at home. A DeHaan SO model SxS. I got a case of Remington game loads and I'm stoked about trying it out on some dove in a couple weeks.

Nice choice.I don't know about the lunatic fringe thing. I prefer to think of the 16 as something old that's new again. My grandad and his pals were a lot smarter than we ever knew. Anyways, good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Good lookin' gun.

Welcome,

You will find that we are not a lunatic fringe, We are just a bunch of normal
(for the most part) guys who have a rare disease that can only be cured by medicine that comes in large pills the size of a 16 gauge shell. These can only be taken in the grouse woods, pheasant fields, woodcock covers, etc and only in the company of a good dog and good friends. When we get our medicine why we are almost normal. We just have a language filled with references to 7/8th ounce loads with fillers, 2 1/2" shells and such obscure names as Ithaca, Parker, Fox etc.

Other than that there is nothing wrong with us...wrong with us...wrong with us.

Again, welcome to a great group with a lot of great people.

Well...Okay. but that is not to say that none of the folks here are opposed to wearing fringe on their blaze orange hunting togs. And yes, some of us...er...them are lunitics. Now you take the RevDoc. It was implied last year that he wears chartruse lederhosen while galivanting after pheasant in Kansas. I personnally think its a vicious rumor. I'm more apt to believe it was a tu-tu--or was it the dog? Anyway, you will have to find out for yourself. Enjoy, and welcome.

I just joined up on the KS Pheasant hunt. If the Rev shows up in lederhosen of any color, I may back out on the spot. although I have been known to hunt in Carhart overalls with double knees. No tweed for me. The closest thing I might wear that would qualify as "gentleman's attire" would by my Stetson "Three forks" felt hat. It's not that great a hat for hunting, but looks good.

Compared to what the rev and kat/dog normally hunt in, lederhosen would be far better, for your viewing pleasure.

The ironic thing about going 16 ga. is that, looking at the gun, I'd swear it was a 12. But looking at the shotshells, I'd swear they were 20 ga shells. Weird.

Geez, why would you want three forks in your hat? You must spend a lot of time at "all you can eat" buffets. I once knew a guy from Orlando, Fl who was barred from "Malcolm's Hungry Bear". He made Homer Simson seem anorexsic by comparison. Rolling Eyes Laughing
