missing from the "Your first" & "your only/prefered" is "single shot" option...
Often I wonder why the single shot gets over looked - I'm sure a lot of us learned basic gun handling safety from a one-shot of some form. Mine was a pellet gun (skipped right over BB's), then to a .22, then to a single shot 16 (where it all started for me really), then to a 12 ga. autoloader...
I find too often that the veterans forget the basic things that "newbies" find exciting and attractive - this goes for more than just shooting but certainly applies - I'm also guilty of this at times but try to remember (using terms from a Jeep board) "Every Jeep was stock and every driver was new once."
Anyway - add single shot wouldja? |

The old learning curve--we move on to more specific guns---trap,skeet etc--- a .Nothing wrong with a single shot but they have VERY limited application in any clays game. For hunting give me a Model 12 with an I/C They-single shots- are great for training or a coon in the crib but the choke is full.stocks are short and unweildy and that big bead on the barrel gives me a cold chill |

My dad started my brother and i both out with a single shot 20. His therory was that when we learned to make the first shot count then we could go onto something with more shells. I still hunted with that single shot for years after i left home. i just liked the way i felt in my hands, being for years the only shot gun i had used. of cource now i use doubles. but there is still a special place in my hart for that gun. a lot of memories of years and hunts long gone by.
