Hi Larry,
Good article in Shooting Sportsman. Question though. Where was the Ithaca Poster Art obtained from for page 87? Are these current manufacture vinyl/metal posters similar to replicas I've seen of remington and peters shells as of late? Just Curious. I would mind having the passenger pigeon one if I can find one.....

Mike, I haven't even received MY copy of the mag yet--goes to show you that writers don't get preference. And I didn't have anything to do with the Ithaca poster art that accompanies the piece. |

I'd just shoot Ralph Stuart an email; he can tell you who to talk to to find out.

Mike: This place (when I was last there 2 yrs ago) had about 10 Ithaca reproduction tin signs. I bought the woodcock and fox chasing the pheasant and I think they had the passenger pigeon sign also:

I will get off I 70 at 54 at Kingdom City on Sunday and get back on I 70 at 54 on Monday afternoon - how do I find this store??? I will buy what I can and then report what is left |

Well that worked out well You'll see several billboards (they still have those along I-70 don't they ) as you near Kingdom City. At the 54 exit, turn right (N. toward Mexico) and it's on the west side only about a 1/2 mile off the highway. Doesn't look like much, but again 2 yrs ago, it was packed with repro tin signs with hunting/firearms/fishing stuff on the N. end of the store. You might pick up a nice 3 Stooges poster for 16GG also Let us know what you find. |

Gentlemen:
Got off I 70 about 5:30 pm this afternoon and there it was - Nostalgiaville.
I pulled up, hopped out of the dakota and walked in the store. WOW - a lot of tin signs and retro stuff. Turned NORTH per revdocdrew's instructions and about the third/fourth signed-up wall, there they were - a plethora (that means a LOT) of outdoor tin signs
I saw (in no order)
Ithaca - with woodcock
Ithaca - with turkey
Peters - with ducks and boxes and dogs
Remington - with guns, and shells, and ducks, and dogs
Winchester - with guns, and shells, and ducks, and dogs
about 25 in total.
For your fishing types - they had a boat-load of Heddon and other tackle manufacturer tin signs too.
Each sign is $12.95, 2 for $25, and 3 for $36 - I bought three.
My purchases:
Ithaca - with woodcock
Peters - with shell box and ducks
Remington - with all manner of game on it and labeled with names of said animules at the bottom
I will get some pics up some time.
What fun....

good luck.... |

My sis is a pediatrician in Mexico, MO which is just a bit east of Paris, MO and north of Versailles. MO-Missourians weren't very creative when it came to naming towns BUT my dad lives in Queretaro, MX |

I figured you knew where it is being from Az.
Heck right now at this moment I'm just 23 miles from the border. I went to school in a town real close to Paris Tx. I have also been to Bugtussle tx. Seems our ancestors did have a sense of humor. |

Well, I'm right down the road a bit from Hot Coffee Mississippi. No accounting for town names and like you said, sometimes I get the feeling that our ancestors are playing jokes on us.
Have a great weekend,
