Gentlemen:
I've been thinking of a bore gauge and ran across this online:
http://www.shotguncombogauge.com/multiboregauge.html
Any of you have thoughts on this item
I watched the video - it looks pretty cool and seems to work well.
It seems I could use this for all my needs and all my guns - chambers, barrel size, chokes, wall thickness.
Am I missing something or is this a good item?
thanks for the input..... |

The only thing I didn't like about this tool, is the probes are only 6" long. Which would be fine, if all your guns had 12" barrels. You will not be able to measure over 50% of your barrels length. I realise the breech end is most critical, and it will measure chokes. But I want a bore gauge that will mesure the complete bore. I had the Stan Baker bore gauge, which is great for everything but a 16 gauge. The 12 gauge prope is to big to measure 16 gauge barrels from the muzzle end, unless they are cylinder bored. The 20 gauge probe will measure chokes, but not bore size. I sold it and ordered the Galazan Bore Gauge, that uses one probe. With 3 flexible fingers, that measures everything from .410 to 10 gauge I believe. |

Gentlemen:
OK - how about this... The good revdocdrew sent me an email (he must live on the computer as I do) with the following content (or some semblance of this anyway)
Now you really owe me (for what I can't figure). p. 80 of Brownells catalog 58 - catalog #843-200-126 a '12/16 Bore Gauge'
I think the price is $90?
What about this one (and I know, it is not a Stan Baker - at least I did not sell mine like revdocdrew did )
thanks..... |

What goes here Rev? First you greatly diminish my hard earned rep as a hell raising, raving shotgun nut by calling me reasonable and (oh the shame) rational. Now you trivialize me as being a figment of your imagination. I'm deeply hurt. And just when I was going to ask for guidance about buying a vanity gun of my own. I have a room full of unused bedroom furnature I was thinking of disposing. Now I can hardly bear to even think of such a request. |
