Skeettx,
Do you use 170 gr or 196gr for dove? spire point or round nose?

GREAT QUESTION!!!

I INSURE there is no ammo in the rifle chamber as I HATE the side safety and often push the barrel selector instead of the safety, what a mess I am!!!!

Mike

p.s. if you need assistance posting your pictures, let me know

Not my favorite 16, but my favorite gun, dog and photo of me on a cold January dawn dove shoot that was a real burner of a shoot with only 4 guns.

Gil, that is a great picture. I take it that is Abbey between your legs, and it looks like a Win model 12 to me?

Gil, that is sweet! Is pup head-resting or just checking out the action to the right? How do you not just reach down and scratch/pet that head?

It could be that the Winchester model 12 16 is the best shotgun ever.

My 16ga Mod12, passed down to me from my Grandfather, a great gun and it served me as my only gun for 21 years of hunting. Here it is after a dove and eurasian-dove shoot last year.

This is my only 16ga, but it being my first shotgun and longtime only gun, I have a deep love for it and the 16ga. Lately however I'm starting to want a semi-auto 16 to shoot steel shot with duck hunting, but don't know that many options...

If one of you guys wants to use this "best of" thread to talk about "the Best Semi-Auto 16gauge guns, both Gas and Recoil", I'd love to read it! Right now I'm thinking about an 11-48 or Auto5, but would need late model for steel shot. And I'd really like choke tubes. All I know of that fits right now is the new Browning Sweet16 A5, are there any other new production options for me?
Thx!

Thanks, fellas. Photo was a "selfie/doggie/gunnie" taken January, 2014. Abby showed better sense than I by moving unsolicited between my legs to get out of a cold wind while I was seated on my dove stool . Temps were in the high 20's, but the windchill made it worse. The wind started at sunrise and we weren't prepared for it. I ended up with a heckuva cold but it was a memorable dove hunt. Good thing about a morning shoot is it doesn't last long and we limited quickly. Willa, Abby's half sister, wasn't born until May of that year. Gil
PS: Dale, it's a 1957 M12 in 16,

Thought it looked familiar, Gil. I sold a 1957 M12 field 16 just last fall.

Gil, thought so. My Mod 12 was made in 1920. I bought it from a fellow on the site.
I do have a Ithaca M37, IC, 26" barrel made in 1957 though.

NOW, if I just had the body to hunt again! Wink
