Is it possible to remove the factory double triggers from a Merkel 1620 and replace with a single or single selective trigger? Ideally, I would want to have the Merkel trigger as opposed to an aftermarket version. If so, can this be done by a capable local gunsmith or would this have to be sent back to the factory?

I did send an e-mail to Merkel, but have yet to hear back from them.

Just for my sanity, Dannyboy. Do you have the double trigger Merklel 1620 in your hot little hands and want to commit this act, or is this just a general, nice to know question?

If you get no satisfaction from Merkel, Miller Single Trigger may be an option.

No, I don't have a 1620 yet. I keep looking, but almost everything I see come up for sale have double triggers. I guess if I don't overpay on a double trigger version and I find out that I can't get used to the double triggers, I could resell for no loss.

From one single trigger shooter to another, don't let the double trigger crowd intimidate you. I got a Ugartechea model 257 custom built a few years back and when this crowd discovered I was getting it with a single trigger, semi-pistol grip stock and semi-beavertail fore end, you should have heard the howl. Bottom line, it's your gun, your preferences and you should have it to suit YOU, not to please anyone else.

PS, I love my Ugartechea and shoot it well.
