I've got 4 thousand Remington 57 primers and 1 thousand CCI 157 primers for sale. $10 per thousand plus cost to send. If you would like some send me a pm. Even have some 69's.

I'm interested in some 57s, but a couple questions:
Where are you shipping from?
Shouldn't this really be in the for sale section?

Seems more related to reloading than a gun for sale or wanted.

If it's a joke, I don't get it.

Are you suggesting you can legally ship primers in Texas without a hazmat certification?

No, I think he's remarking on the NYS requirement barring sales of ammo without an FFL background check, and effectively barring ship-to-home of ammo. Whether that law applies to primers, I dunno.

Back to the main point, upthread I asked whence he was shipping the primers b/c I will drive within reason to pick up rather than incur hazmat fees. Some private shippers are cavalier about and don't want to be bothered with the hazmat, perhaps seeing a temptation of pocketing $28. I had one seller like that (a couple tins of *57 primers) and I drove to meet him FTF rather than expose myself to the possibility it was a law enforcement sting masquerading as an opportunity to save $28. (It wasn't)

You seriously have to get an FFL check everytime you want to purchase ammo in NYS? Shocked

If that is true I would move. I have wondered why Remington moved here to North AL.

Rob.

Thanks Byrdslayr
I just sent a load away for testing using these primers.
Old copper clad Mohawk Remington hulls with 1 1/8 oz of TSS #9 payload.
Should be bad news for the spring gobblers.
I saved the hulls for a long time and didnt think Id run across primers any time soon.
Much appreciated,
Walter

Those folks here who bought some of brdslayr's #57 size primers for use w/ the old style Remington fiber base wad hulls have done the smart thing. It's the safest, and in my opinion, the only sane way to re-prime these old hulls. I'm very glad to see we have members here with some common sense.

But once again, please very carefully check each of your old Remington hulls for moisture damage. Anyone who has seen what moisture does to unprotected press board knows exactly why I am posting my advice about this again.

Enjoy your reloading/shooting activities and stay safe my friends--and happy labor day too. Very Happy

Are there some other uses for 57s, other than old Remington hulls? What modern hulls might use these primers?

All hulls can use them, but you have to use 1/4 in pieces of a drinking straw as a bushing so the primer wont fall out. Shot up a thousand that way. My friend went through 3k. Its a pain, but it makes for some cheap shootin when they are free.
