So, I was at a gun show yesterday and found 3 boxes of Winchester Upland compression formed 16 gauge. 1 1/8 oz 9's.
Should I shoot them, collect them or trade them off is the question.
In my world 1 1/8 oz seems sort of extreme for the 16 - I usually shoot an oz and frankly my 12 gauge loads are usually 7/8 oz.
My 16's are a Darne. some Pieper, Bayard Hammer guns and an old Stevens 520 pump so nothing that really wants high pressure or recoil.
I know the hulls are special but I have plenty of Herters and Remingtons... |

I wish I had found them. My guns don't object to them at all. I am reloading a bunch of those hulls tonight. |

I was unaware that Winchester-Western made the Upland shells with 1 1/8 oz. the Uplands that I've seen were 1 oz. so they may be rare. |

Collecting is fine, can always trade them off later. All of my unfired CF are 1 1/8oz, most 2 3/4DE but many 3 1/4DE Super-X. They're not too bad to shoot out of a M12, your pump would probably be fine to make them into empties if you want to create some specific loads you'll always be able to identify. |

Lawerence, your post reminded me where I had some old Win shells stashed (which I had totally forgotten about). Pulled out 5 boxes of old Super X and Uplands. Also a case of AA 28 target. Best part was to find 3 mint condition reloading manuals from the 1980's. Win, Herc, & Du Pont. |

The CF hulls have been out of the market for so long there are not many published loads anymore. Does anybody have any load recipes to use for skeet using any Alliant product such as Unique? I have a few boxes I need to shoot and then try to reload. |

Thanks guys. Does the DR16 wad work in this hull? I assume not since they are a tapered hull and the DR16 appears to be for straight walled hulls. Love the DR 16 wad for all other hulls. |
