I think 500/600.....the woods been redone, the screws slightly bugered, had aftermarket sling swivels,.. removed......chokes have been opened.....looks like somebody made a OK shooter....then decided they didn't want it....

I agree 100%. Now, on the other hand, IF you are buying a shotgun to use, not brag about, I wouldn't mind having this one.

If he has measured the chokes right, this would make a great over dogs pheasant gun, or a damn near perfect grouse gun.

Who cares if the wood has been redone? Looks OK to this old man. I would offer him $700.00, if he says no, say goodbye, and have a nice day.

Ask if the barrels ring when tapped. If not then a rib may be loose and once asked and you find that they dont ring then it can go back.

I have two English Setters and this would be mainly a pheasant gun but would also use it on Woodcock/Grouse.

If you reload, one gun might cover both bases. Generally M/F for a pheasant gun, spreaders could let it pass as a grouse gun. Polywad sells spreader loads in 16ga, if you're not reloading.

I've got a pair of Stevens 311's I'd part with. One is 28" M/F and the other is 26" IC/Mod. The 26" gun has a pad added. You could have both for less than this gun's price. I've also got a Marlin model 90 16ga with 26" barrel I might part with, it's ic/mod but a bit tight on patterning. With spreaders it's fine on pen birds over pointing dogs. All are 2 3/4" chambers.

I'm trying to clear some space in the safe, and these guns just don't make it to the rotation it seems... PM me for details if the interested.

Well, Mark is a good fellow, and always seemed reasonable--talk to him a couple times per year. the gun looks nice, yeah the woods been refinished and recheckered--so what. And the c hokes, well I have several Parkers and Foxes that are cyl/m, and the factory letters to prove it--I love to hear the so called experts tell me my chokes have been opened up, then show them the factory letter and watch them tap dance.
It would be a good gun over pointing dogs, maybe meet him half way and see what he says. Good luck
