I use a mec 600jr to size and a 650 to load. the 600 is set up according to instructions, but after sizing there is a band half way up the brass where the plastic base wad starts is bigger than the brass at just the plastic hull. this keeps my reloads from feeding all the way into my tighter chambered winchesters and Ithaca.
they get stuck half way into the chamber. anyway to fix this? |

It sounds like either a reloader adjustment or wear problem, or a recipe problem, trying to fit too much into your hull. Tell us your components and recipe, and also read the MEC manual about issues on resizing and adjusting your resizing ring. It could be out of adjustment or worn out. If new shells work, you should be able to get your reloads to work. |

Is it a new (600) press and this issue is out of the box or used and has been producing good resized hulls all along and this issue showed up out of the blue?
Is it possible the swaging collar has a crack in it allowing it to flex out of spec during a resizing cycle?? |

The sizing station is adjustable and can be taken apart. I would disassemble it, and check for anything out of the ordinary, clean and lube it, and reassemble it according to the manual, with the correct gap between the sizing ring and the base of the press. The hull, after being resized, should drop in a chamber without having to be pushed in, just like a new shell. Try that before loading it with components. If it does that, then the problem is in what is happening on the 650. Can you load a good shell by using all the stations on the 600? |

no, they won`t feed after I resize and before I load, and loading does not change it. so far the old rem peters and rem mohawk feed, but the new rem do not. |

Where is it catching when you try and insert it into the chamber? Is it the plastic before the base gets to the chamber, or will it go in easily until it gets to the metal base? Does it catch on the edge of the base, or just stop because the base is too large of a diameter? |

I started reloading on the 600jr and have had this problem since day one, my reloads feed in all my other guns, including my A5, but have always had a problem in my win 37`s(all three)and my ithaca 37 pump. they drop in until it comes to the part of the brass around the base wad, then I have to push it in. |

I had a similar problem reloading 20 gauge. I use a MEC 600 and a PW375, both single stage reloaders with ring resizers. Shells out of the MEC loaded fine and the ones out of the 375 were hard to insert and would not eject. I ordered a new shell carrier for the PW, which sizes the hull on the first station, and the problem was solved. The sizer wasn't resizing it small enough, and had just worn out. The resizing ring on your MEC should be able to resize any hull small enough to work, if not worn out and properly adjusted. |

The order that I would attack this is to disassemble the resizing station on the 600, and check that everything is clean, clear of anything stuck inside, and reassemble and adjust, so that it descends to the correct level. If that didn't fix it, I would order a new resizing ring. https://www.mecshootingsports.com/600-jr-mark-5-parts
As a last resort I would order a Super Sizer, that uses a collet resizer. I really don't think the hulls are the problem. I load thousands of 16 gauge Remington and Herters hulls and have never had a problem with resizing them to work in any of my 16 gauge guns. |

Here is an interesting development:
Some of the newer variety of primers are longer than old ones.
So in some cases, when the primers are seated in some hulls they
swage out the hull after sizing and make them hard to chamber
Just sayin ....
