A Jones Underlever with steel barrels courtesy of Mark Larson.

A Husqvarna Model 51 with steel barrels. The original POW grip modified to a straight grip by Mark Larson.

A Bayard from the 1930's with steel barrels.

A Belgium Liege gun with Damascus barrels also courtesy of Mark.

One might say I have a fixation for Hammer guns. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The little Belgium ( 16 I believe) has been my favorite of yours over the years, Mr. Bogart. Wink

Hammerguns are another slippery slope I have avoided. Who knows? I never thought I'd ever own an LC Smith and I now have one and like it. Maybe a hammer gun is in my future.

A T. Wild of Birmingham 2.5 inch nitro proved 16 gauge SXS. 28 inch barrels with straight grip. It weighs about 5lbs and has double triggers. Late 1920's I believe.

If you want to buy, check out Simpson's. You could do a heck of a lot worse, for a lot more money, e.g., https://www.simpsonltd.com/products/z34018

Just keep in mind when thinking about possibly opening the chambers out, that to get the long barrels these guns had/have at the light weight they also have, the barrels were struck pretty light. Opening out the chambers or using a high-pressure load might not be in your best interest, at least in terms of long-term repeatability. Besides, RST shells perform really well in these guns.

You've got it bad. Possibly the worst case of hammergunitis on record.

Here is a Husky Model 49 that I refinished a few years back. Got lucky with the quality of wood used "back in the day"

Also have a Husky Underlever that I'm just starting to give the same treatment.

Rudyc, that is as pretty a piece of wood that I've seen on an old Husky hammergun. FN16ga, that is a spectacular looking little gun, too. All of these hammerguns shown have been nice. I have been able to resist--so far. Gil
