Found a very nice engraved unmarked side by side yesterday. Should have taken a picture but did not. Had proof marks and 12 65 so I wasn't real interested. Was curious though if anyone could identify. The distinctive feature was the wood receiver line looked like the top of a heart. Wondered if that was enough to identify.

I'll stop back in and take better pictures. May make an offer regardless of gauge as I do not have an engraved 12.

Edit : By unmarked I mean no name or maker.

Take good, readable photos of barrel flats for proof mark id.

Thank you for the pictures
Now we REALLY need to see the proofmarks on the barrels and action flat.
How are the bores?
any looseness in the barrels?
Fun, fun
Mike

It looks like the simson on gunbroker posted in guns for sale. The wood is loose, the lever is left of center, and the barrels are tight. Also noticed the safety would not move. I'll stop back by after work.

Pretty obvious the buttstock is not original and the fit is rough at best the engraving has some shotty areas as well. Personally I still think it's cool and would buy if the price was right...

My guess would be a Belgian gun, proof marks will tell the story.

Mike how did you figure out it was made in 1925?

The small d. The first link leads to a table with letter codes for every year. Pretty cool. Cool
