I have a Marlin Model 90 with 28" barrels choked Mod/Full but would like to have a barrel set choked IC/Mod. Anyone know of a source? I have also considered the 20 ga Mod/Full barrels that Numrich has and having them rechoked but I'm not sure of the fit of 20 ga barrels in the 16 ga frame. All I hear is that is hit or miss (pun intended). What wisdom can the Forum impart?

Believe 16 and 20 Marlin 90s have different frames so mounting them not a likely event..

Easiest course of action is Briley thin wall choke tubes.

there is a guy over on the marlin forum that tried converting a marlin 90 to another gauge and after months of trying it never worked and he was paying a gunsmith to do it.

I had Briley thin walls put in my Marlin 90 and they work great. Just had them put a set in a Winchester Model 21 12 ga. They do nice work, and fast turn around.

According to Brophy in his book on Marlin Firearms, 16 and 20 ga. guns were made with the same size frame. However barrels may not be interchangeable without "tweeking" by a gunsmith.

Even replacement 16 ga; barrels may not fit without some "tweeking" by gunsmith. I have two sets of barrels for one of my 16 ga Model 90's and the second set had to be adjusted to fit properly.

Model 90's made before 1951 have a snap-on (spring clip) forearm. 1951 and later guns have a "lever release-type" forearm, and they are not interchangeable.

Also, the 16 ga. forearm wood will not fit 20ga. barrels properly, so you would need to find a 20 ga. forearm for the 20 ga. barrels.
