Buying old Mossberg 500 barrel, that has the original "C-lect" choke system on it.
Just to clean and lube, just un-screw the front shroud over the choke petals, clean with hoppe's and the use "Super ube" or a"never-sieze" type compounf on the petals and the threads?
Thanks. |

That's all there is to it.
It's a shame most people never do this or any type of cleaning on adjustable choke's. |

I love perusing the used rcks at local shop and when I buy, it come homes and gets DETAILED! to see if any parts need replacing, confirming no surpises regarding un-noticed cracks.
After that I go to shoot it at the range.
There are more peolr out there that shoot instead on cleaning/maintaining firearms
Heck, I bought a M1 Carbine and shop said it function fired perfectly, detailed the bolt and the ejector spring was SOLID GUNK!
Now, it PURRS and light stoning of feed ramp it doesn't sturrer when feeeding soft-nose amm. |

One of the primary criteria for purchasing or continuing to own a firearm is if I can dismantle the gun down to every separate part- screws and pins included, then reassemble it and have it still fire. If I can't, then it doesn't stay around very long. Dismantling the adjustable choke, cleaning, lubing, reassembling seems a normal part of life, but I know there are those that just shoot something until it breaks just as there are those that drive their cars w/o maintenance until the car dies- such the pity. |
