Hi all, new to this forum and checking in. Followed a link by "sm" from THR since it said 16Ga.
I've got two 16's. One is an H&R Topper model that I got new for Christmas when I was 13 or so, the other is my new to me Sweet 16 (1955) that my wife bought for my birthday last year.
Looking forward to talking with others who enjoy 16's.

Welcome,

Your wife sounds like a keeper. '55 is in range of the best years for 16's, IMO.

Sprocket - I'm in the Springfield area. If you relocate to Deerfield, you should be happy - that is a beautiful section of the state.

Welcome aboard from one MA guy to another. Western MA is like a different universe than east of Worchester. However, I've found some nice little nooks to hunt in around the South Shore and the Southeast parts of MA. It just takes a while to find them.

Seems there are less hunters each year there too. The younger folks have been brainwashed by the liberal education system here that hunting and shooting is for troglodytes as one of them informed me last week. Well, that's their take. I wonder what would happen if the supermarkets all closed. Anyway, welcome aboard.

Welcome!

Regarding 16gg's comment above. These are probably the same folks who grew up playing sports like soccer, and believe that trophys are for participation. Odd's (yes, I'm implying gambling) are they also had to have their mom drive them to the field. Rolling Eyes

Now, before someone get's their panties in a bind and jumps on me about saying that soccer is not a sport. It is. It's just not.....well how do you say it? It's like the metric system. Just seems strange (here in the states), unless your under 25.

Confused Does this mean I'm getting old, or just mean??? Maybe both Shocked

Welcome to the Fraternal Order of the COBs (Crotchety Old B*stards). Our motto: "I'm not deaf. I'm ignoring you." ( *It used to be" Go #*^* yourself you little b#stard.", but soccer moms everywhere kept fainting against their minivans.) Laughing

Welcome aboard Tuna to the Fraternal order of 16 ga wielders! Hopefully everyone has been afield wielding theirs. I got to spank a few KS pheasants with mine last weekend. Mostly last year birds and tough as hell.

Found this site because of my love of the 16. Inherited my father's Remington 870 16 gauge 10 years ago. Must be from the early 50's. Countless roosters, partridge, ducks and geese fell to that gun. A couple of years ago I bought my Citori 16. Absolutely love it, and hope to pass both to my son after several more roosters and partridge are bagged. Right now he is stuck on that, gotta have an auto mentality. Eventually he will learn the joy of a well balanced O/U and the versatility of the 16.

I knew I'd find the SOB here! I have to go out of state to find any ammo.

Thanks for making me feel welcome.
