I was give 4 bags of SP16 wads today. One bag is clear wads I assume 60’s era. The other 3 are 2 bags dark solid blue not translucent and one bag light blue translucent. What era on the dark blue. The light blue ones Are newer I know and are the only ones I’ve ever seen in my reloading days. |

Not sure you can put any year on the colors. Even in the 1990’s a batch came through clear.
I have seen dark blue, light blue and clear SP-16’s.....These have been made from 1987 going forward. |

I use quite a few of them and only have seen light blue. Started loading 16 ga about five years ago. |

The color can vary due to two factors---The amount of blue color mixed in w/the clear plastic resin during manufacture or sunlight. The wad should be flexible -sunlight will make them brittle and unuseable. |
