i/e:

F.V. Dreyse 16g with swing right barrels!
Category: Boxlocks
Gauge: 16 gauge
Serial: 0,70
German gunsmith Johann Nikolaus von Dreyse beginning in 1824, after conducted multiple experiments in 1836 produced the first complete needle fire gun. Here is what may be a one of kind 16g. needle fire shotgun! The lever not only moves the barrels to the right but when closing cams the barrels back into the breech face. This gun won the NRA Foundation trophy at the Celebration of Fine Guns in San Francisco.

So do you have one or are you just liking to see things here in print??

I have an shoot an under lever Model 17 Husky, and no issues with reasonable ammo.

It was made in 1915

He is talking about a gun that when the release/ breech latch lever is turned, the barrels are twisted to the side on a horizontal plane. Think of it this way: put your hands together, flat, palm to palm. Now twist the top hand so that the palm rotates outward. That is how these guns function.

I wish I could relate first hand experience but cannot. I noticed one of these guns for sale on GB recently, it caught my eye and intrigued me, but not to the point of purchase.

The G Fox guns I saw were having their barrels shortened and the owner planned to use them in some sort of competition, cowboy action style, and he was going to use reloads. I didn't ask if he was doing so to keep pressures down but assumed so.

Both RST & Polywad are good sources for Ammo

While you should not shoot the heavier loads (I.e. Fiochi Golden Pheasant) the available shells RST & Polywad will effectively Kill.

I hunt 16 SXS’s from 1898 forward, none newer than WWII.

My normal hunting load is 1 oz flying at 1150 FPS or so and on Pheasants same speed, but 1 1/8 oz.

I am a firm believer that super heavy or super fast are over kill.
