Has the case been opened? If so, have the boxes been opened? Are the shells red paper with 6 point folded crimps?

I'm not sure where you are located so the shipping may be a problem; but at $15/box I'd buy the case (20 boxes) if the transport doesn't kill the deal.

Does the F2PA42 code on the case mean that? If so how do we interpret those codes?

Can you please complete the matrix of the code?

A= Jan
B=Feb
C=Mar

OK so far?

A starts in 1964
B = 1965

OK?

42 in 24 in reverse??

AND how did you learn about this Smile

Mike

If $15 per box is acceptable, then a case of 20 would be $300. Estimated weight of the case is 47 pounds. According to UPS estimated cost website, ground shipping from 59068 to my address at 98826 would be $52.

So the total price $352.

We aren't supposed to negotiate on the site, so I'll be contacting via PM.

I checked two of mine.

UWH168 are the Xpert 1 1/8oz 2 3/4DE of 8's and stamped C1BN02

X16H6 are Super-X 1 1/8oz 3 1/4DE of 6's and stamped E1SL22

The third case is of UWH16 in 7 1/2 shot, Xpert. This case is covered in shipping tape from when I bought them, no stamp is visible. I've gone through one half of this case and half of the Super-X case as hunting loads, may be a while to get to the 8's. In patterning the 6s I don't think they're quite target quality lead, or maybe time has degraded their performance.

I found this date code on line years ago but there are some that don't fit this so only Winchester can decipher them and they have never told me what their date codes are after numerous requests.

The year codes repeat themselves every 20 years and A & Z are not used.
b=2008, C=2009, D=2010 and so on until you get to Y which is 2027. Since B is 2008 it is also 1988, 1968, 1948 and 1928. Simply do the same which each year and you have the year code which is the first letter in the code the months are as follows.

A=Jan
B= Feb
C=March
D= April
E=May
F=June
G=July
H=August
K=Sept
L=Oct
M=Nov
N=Dec

BN02=12/201988
SL22=10/22/1976

You have to have some idea of the vintage of the ammo by the type of box because without that knowledge the year can be tricky.
I believe the original case was made in 1979 even though the packaging seems to be from a few years earlier but I don't think Olin would have thrown these boxes away simply because they were not the same as the other ammo made in 1979 which displays both Winchester-Western. Or it could be that that particular load was not updated I am not sure. I do have some 12 Ga 2 3/4 magnum #6's from 1979 that uses the same box and logo as the 16 ga shells pictured.

Some of the earlier loads from the 70's have a code that does not fit the aforementioned one I described.
