Has anyone tried 28 gauge in tight choked 16s? Open like a spreader wad or holy patterns?

First I assume you are talking gaugemates, lil skeeters, etc
and not full length Briley tubes

Works quite well and has about the same choke as the parent gun, but a bit thinner with only 3/4 shot

Thanks Skeettx. Just found many boxes of Federal 28 at $7.25 a box. Mix of wing-shock & target.

When you can get "holy patterns", you are definitely walking with The Lord. I have not acheived that yet, at least not that I can notice. Apparently when a person has acheived this state, it doesn't matter what gauge shells he shoots in a 16.

Thanks for the explanation DC. Reminds me of a joke about it getting so cold that even the brain begins to shiver...

Having family in New Albin, IA this reminds me of a fellow that lived out west of town. The road started out of New Albin in Iowa but meandered back and forth across the IA-Minn line. For years the fellow thought he lived in Minnesota; then a survey was done and it turned out that the stateline went just north of his house, so he actually lived in Iowa. the fellow was elated, telling the crew that he was really glad that they had set things straight Because he didn't think he could stand another Cold Minnesota Winter!!
