Hi - just thought I'd put a feeler out here. I shot a friends 16 hammer gun last weekend at the 16ga shoot and now I have an itch. Let me know if you have anything for sale or if you see any. Thanks!

I don't know the exact details other than that it was a German guild gun. 16, 30'' tubes and real sweet shooting. it was not a black powder gun.

Give Mark Beasland a Mark's Born Again Birdguns a shout. Mark moves, fixes, and sees lots of cool continental doubles. If you get a chance get over to Medford, WI for the Greater Northern SxS Classic. Mark will be there as well as other big SxS vendors. You might find one, or at least get some good leads. Good Luck! I wouldn't mind a hammergun myself for the fun shoots, 12 or 16.

I’ve had that itch, and satisfied it with a mighty Husqvarna. Mine is a M51 from 1920. Barrel condition is everything and a lot of field grade hammer guns have rough bores. Kirby Hoyt at Vintage Doubles is another excellent source for a hammer gun.

The 16 gauge Dickson look especially tasty. The stocks on most hammer Guns will have lots of drop. A long barreled 16 gauge hammer gun is one of the few guns I still have a desire to own.

This one is also quite spiffy.

You will love a 30" 16 ga hammer. I bought one this spring at a local gun show for $375. I had the gents at the German Gun Collectors booth a t the Southern go over it, and it is probably a "guild" gun. Nicely engraved.
It is choked cyl/full, has fluid steel barrels, and 2 1/2" chambers. It has sling swivels, and of course a cheek piece. It weighs only 5 lbs 13 ounces. I shot a round of sc with it and loved it--I was shooting 7/8 oz loads thru it, but have recently loaded up several hundred 3/4 oz, 2 1/2" loads, to rduce the recoil. I am bringing it to the Northeast SXS (Hausmann's) next week.
Looking forward to grouse hunting with it this fall.
It is much lighter than my O frame Parker 16 hammer wit 26" barrels

I have an old J.P. Sauer external hammer 16 that I thought was 30" but it measures out to 73cm - about 28-3/4 inch. Krupp fluid steel barrels, mod/full,
5-3/4lbs, back action locks, swivels, steel butt plate, but no cheek piece. Sweet shooter, with light 3/4oz loads. That butt plate will get your attention with heavier stuff!

After giving it some thought, I have to say that my 29.5" Husqvarna 100 16b hammer gun is the best shooting gun I've ever owned, especially at medium to far ranges. I've never seen another mod. 100 16ga for sale though. I would highly recommend any of the Husqvarna 16 hammer guns if you can find them in decent shape.

Simpson's usually has bundles of 16 ga/30 inch Belgian hammerguns and for short money, too.
All told, mine cost me $275, and that included a tad of gunsmithing (raise a couple dents, thorough takedown inspection), FFL transfer and shipping from Simpson's. Mine actually carries lighter than my 20 ga Trojan which has barrels 4 inches shorter.
