I want to install choke tubes in a 16ga SxS, and plan to use Colonial's tubes. I can't find a reamer and tap available online, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm hoping to avoid having them custom made, though I believe Manson will be able to make them for me.

I'm well aware I will spend more on tooling than I would shipping it to a smith to do the work for me. That, to me, does not outweigh the benefits of doing it myself.

I believe Colonial sold those tools at one time.

I appreciate the responses. I'm not sure why I didn't think to ask Colonial.

The tubes I ordered came in this morning, and after looking at them I decided to make my own tooling. I had the material and tooling I needed on hand, and both tools are pretty simple. It took about 2 hours to machine and heat treat them, and about 15 minutes or so to install the chokes. My barrel was originally choked cyl/mod, so I used an adjustable reamer to open the mod choke. I wanted to reduce the material removed by my homemade reamer and eliminate the need to make multiple pilot bushings.

There's not really anything to update on as far as the actual installation goes. It all went smoothly. I had a chance to go shoot a local sporting clay course yesterday. It's broken up into a short range woods course and a long range field course. Being able to switch chokes based on range instead of running cyl/mod the whole time definitely improved my consistency. My score wasn't much better, but my breaks were stronger. I usually have a lot of soft breaks, especially with the cyl barrel on the long course. Hopefully that will carry over to quick kills this fall.

A couple of my friends who also shoot 16s asked me to do theirs when they saw mine, so it looks like I'm picking up a tap and reamer anyway. Shop made tools are great for one off jobs, but for more than a couple holes commercial tools are the way to go.
