looking to reinforce the wrist of my 16 ga citori lightning, its kinda of thin, so I have heard of gluing in a walnut plug in the buttstock bolt hole, with a hole in it and using a longer bolt to secure it. any one done it?

With any "through bolt" stock arrangement, the best way would be to sleeve it with a metal tube trimmed to proper length. Depending on the diameter of the hole, this can be easy or difficult (if no standard size tubing matches the hole diameter: re-drilling must be done with great care). Thin wall steel or stainless is a good choice as is one of the more rigid/ harder alloys of aluminum. Heavily crosshatch the metal and use high bond, slow cure epoxy.

I wouldn’t worry about. Citoris are not known for breaking at the wrist. As long as the grain runs straight through the wrist you should be fine. Post a pic of the stock from both sideshow we can see if there are potential issues.
I have the head of the stock on all the shotguns I keep glass bedded. This makes for 100% wood to metal contact and the recoil forces are evenly distributed into the stock.

According to the Stock Doctor, some Citoris have a metal tubes in them from the factory. He shared that with me when I was considering having my Citori Upland bent.
