I know not to mix different powders but what about the dregs of one green dot can with another green dot new can? (GD being used as an example)

Mix them together and shake them up. Whatever little difference there is will never be noticeable.

I usually buy eight pounds jugs of powder , and I have poured one pound cans of the same powder in a partial eight pounder, shook it up and loaded.

I do the same as D37 & df mentioned. Adding; whenever switching containers of the same powder re-verify the powder drop volume/weight.

Well, for what it's worth, I have always added to my powder bottle on the reloader from whichever can of powder was handy (same powder of course). It's not uncommon to finish off one can of say, Green Dot, and grab the next one to top things off. I believe that is common practice. Never any issues.

Yep agree, certainly... if it's not consistent enough to use bottle to bottle, it's not consistent enough to use the recipes. However, Since it IS consistent enough to keep using old recipes, well then... there really is zero question here.
