Was going to use Cheddites but BP only has 2.5" purple hulls now (and I want purple!) I was at a local Scheels and they had bags of once fired Federal hulls so I got some. Unfortunately, there's not as much data as the Cheddites have. Looking for a Green Dot recipe for 1 oz for target loads and preferably Longshot for 1 1/16 or 1⅛ oz load for pheasants. I have other powders on hand as well (800x, blue Dot, international, red dot, clay dot, titewad, lilgun, clays, unique, and pro reach) Please, I'd like to use Win209 or Ched209 since that's what I use for everything else. I have no wads right now so that's not a worry. These will be fold crimped.

Must have swiped too far on hodgdon's website and found one with a SP16 wad with Longshot. Still need a Green Dot load though

SP16 wads and Longshot are a bad combo. Very, very leaky. With Federal, Cheddite, Rio, etc. straight walled hulls it is a massive problem. The powder will leak past the wad. I use Claybuster WAA16 wads that I have pre-flared the powder cup on, and it is flared dramatically. People using the BP wads seem to have little leakage troubles. I would investigate one of those two options.

For 1 ounce I prefer 800-X, which leaks past absolutely nothing. Green dot is super for 3/4 & 7/8 oz loads but can be used for 1 ounce as well. Here are a couple such loads from my data spreadsheet is as follows:

Fed hull
1 oz. lead shot
18.5 gr. Green Dot
BPI SG16 wad
Fed 209A primer
1220 fps
9,300 psi
Source: Ballistic Products Inc.

Another one:

Fed Hull
1 oz. lead shot
19gr. Green Dot
WAA16 wad
Fed 209A primer
1220 fps
9,800 psi
Source: Alliant 7/96

I'd lean toward the SG wad , the AA can be leaky too .

Are SP16 wads and longshot powder also a problem with RGL loads?

RGL is a much thicker walled hull. The internal diameter is smaller and the wads seal tighter. I just took one and an SP16 wad and checked the fit and not much is going to be able to leak past.

I have use Longshot and the Sp16 wads in the RGL hulls with 0 migration problems . The sp wad was made for the Remington hulls . The WAA16 wads work really well in the Rem hulls also.
